Providing power and data sources for the lab
When contractors, refurbishing a university, required a quality cable management system on a tight timescale, they used Marshall-Tufflex’s white PVC-U Bench Trunking and Sterling Profile 1, which fitted the bill perfectly.
The products provided an available, easy-to-fit and cost-effective solution for the renovation of the Davy Laboratory at the University of Plymouth. The university is a world-class research institution for science, engineering, medicine, and robotics. The project was part of continued investment in maintaining facilities to the highest standard.
Marshall-Tufflex Bench Trunking was mounted onto workbenches and angled under shelving to provide power and data sources for computers and laboratory equipment. The sturdy yet light solution includes dividing fillets so that services can be segregated and the system accepts standard wiring accessories.
Installed by Dodd Group South in Exeter and supplied by Edmundson Electrical, Plymouth, the project also required around 30m of Sterling Profile 1 perimeter trunking. This versatile solution comprises three separate compartments, ideal for delivering multiple services to the laboratory’s workbenches. It can be fed from larger trunking systems and has an improved design that allows for greater cable capacity, providing a stylish solution on a budget.
The refurbishment had to be completed on a tight turnaround. Marshall-Tufflex products were chosen because the finish offered is of a high standard and the products and accessories are readily available. The Bench Trunking was a special order. However, Marshall-Tufflex had stock and supplied it in a quick and timely manner.
