Chairman Elected for Sustainability Group
Former NG Bailey Engineering Director Jim O'Neil has been elected chairman of M&E Sustainability, the organisation spearheading the promotion of sustainable building services engineering.
Mr O'Neil and his colleagues within the joint venture organisation, which was established by the Electrical Contractors Association (ECA) and the Heating and Ventilating Contractors' Association (HVCA) last year, have pledged their commitment to the identification of sustainable solutions across the built environment.
"The building services engineering sector has a crucial part to play in helping Government meet its emission reduction targets and clients meet their carbon and corporate social responsibility (CSR) obligations over the coming years.
"As such, the promotion of renewable energy alongside low and zero-carbon solutions are at the top of my agenda for the year ahead," commented Mr O'Neil.
Jim O'Neil succeeds the group's first chairman David Frise, and paid tribute to David's pioneering role in establishing M&E Sustainability as a source of technical advice for mechanical and electrical contractors.
"M&E Sustainability exists to encourage a holistic approach to the engineering needs of customers and clients," said Mr Frise. "I am delighted that the initiative will continue in safe hands.
"Jim is well placed to continue the group's work of ensuring that M&E contractors gain the skills necessary to meet the sustainability challenge and to derive maximum advantage from commercial opportunities."
