Megger's 17th Edition Range
Tough, accurate, dependable instruments that offer outstanding value for money are now available from Megger to cover all of the testing requirements of the new 17th Edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations, which comes into effect in June.
All of the instruments in Megger’s 17th Edition range feature robust construction, enabling them to withstand the rough-and-tumble of daily on-site use without damage, and all incorporate extensive electrical protection. They don’t “go bang” for example, if they are accidentally used on live circuits when switched to an inappropriate range, or if they are used in the rain – although, of course, such usage is neither recommended nor condoned by Megger!
An ideal choice to meet all of the 17th Edition’s testing requirements in a single instrument is the new MFT1553 multifunction tester, which offers loop, RCD, voltage, continuity and insulation testing in an easy-to-use compact unit. This model has a timesaving automatic RCD test option, and includes Bluetooth so that results can be directly downloaded to portable devices such as hand-held computers and Smartphones.
The MFT1553 can even be supplied in an On-Site package, together with Megger’s renowned PowerSuite Lite software that allows test certificates to be generated directly on the mobile device, ready for immediate downloading and printing on return to the office.
Other models in the MFT1500 range offer the same convenience of a single instrument for all tests, and are an economical choice for applications where the extended functionality of the MFT1553 isn’t needed.
For those who prefer separate instruments for each test, Megger offers a full range of loop, RCD and insulation testers. This includes the LTW series of two-wire loop impedance testers. Despite needing only two connections, and thus making testing easy even when no neutral is available, these innovative instruments are guaranteed not to trip working 30mA RCDs. In addition, they monitor noise on the supply to ensure that they provide accurate results even under difficult operating conditions.
For insulation testing, the MIT300 series of insulation and continuity testers are designed for convenience and safety, with interlocks to prevent incorrect connection of the test leads. There are no hidden functions, and the selector switches are clearly colour coded. RCD testers in the Megger range are equally convenient to use and, of course, include models with the timesaving auto-test feature.
To complement its comprehensive range of instruments for 17th Edition applications, Megger is offering the new MTB7671 test box. This verifies the accuracy of 17th Edition instruments in line with the requirements of the guidance notes that accompany the regulations, and checks not only the main parameters, but also essential secondary parameters such as the voltages applied by the instrument during insulation and continuity tests.
