Contactum Wire Free Switch
Contactum has launched a unique wire free light switch that requires no batteries.
The new switch uses robust RF technology to 'communicate' from the switch to / from the relay in the ceiling rose. As a result, no hard wiring - and therefore re-decorating - is required, which makes the switch ideally suited to retrofits, listed buildings where you cannot damage the fabric of the property and areas
where it is difficult to install or hide wiring such as conservatories. It can even be used for external lighting, either by placing the switch in an IP65 housing or, where the range allows, by putting the switch inside by the back door.
Where the Contactum wire free light switch is really unique is that it requires no batteries as it is piezo electric operated; the very act of pressing the switch on and off actually generates power to operate the switch.
As you might expect, installation is exceptionally easy. The relay requires a 40mm hole in the ceiling rose or can be installed above the light fitting. The switch is screwed or stuck to the wall with a sticky pad and can be moved at any time to any location up to 30 metres from the light fitting.
Programming the switch to the relay to ensure the switch can only operate that light is also straightforward as it simply involves pressing the relevant button on the relay and flicking the switch on. The unit can be programmed to operate more than one light, so the ceiling light and wall lights could all operate off
one switch if the customer so desires, making it very flexible.
The Contactum wire free switch it suited for use in domestic, commercial and industrial properties and can be used with all lamps, apart from dimmer units.
As you would expect from Contactum, the switch itself is available in a range of finishes from the company's Decorative and Moulded ranges, to suit a very wide range of environments, both traditional and contemporary.
