Small but Perfectly Formed

Megaman’s Liliput energy saving lamps are being used throughout the luxurious Celtic Manor Resort. Introducing these extremely small lamps into a variety of applications around the hotel has enabled Celtic Manor to maintain its energy saving ethos whilst retaining the aesthetics of the interior decor.

Located in 1400 acres of beautiful countryside in the Usk Valley, the Resort has three championship golf courses and in 2010 will host The Ryder Cup. It also incorporates two hotels, The 5-star resort Hotel with 330 bedrooms and the smaller 19th century Manor House Hotel offering 4-star accommodation with 70 rooms.

Management at the Resort have always been very eco-friendly, using energy saving lighting where possible. However, the existing lamps were large and bulky and could easily be seen jutting out of the fixtures, whilst giving a very poor light output. When Celtic’s engineering manager, David Lugg, set about finding energy saving lamps that were small enough for their light fittings whilst offering a better light output, he discovered the Megaman lamps via Lyco Direct Ltd.

Liliput are the world’s smallest energy saving lamps and are suitable for a wide range of applications including table, wall lamp and pendant fittings – in fact, anywhere a discrete, unobtrusive light source is required. As a direct replacement for incandescent lamps, Liliput is available in three base sizes B22, E14 and E27 and are available in a variety of wattages from 5W to 30W. Using the company’s unique Ingenium® Technology, the lamps reduce maintenance cost by offering a long lamp life of approximately 10,000+ hours.

After an initial testing of the Liliput lamps within specific areas of the hotel, it was agreed to change all areas over to these lamps. Following the installation, David Lugg commented: "Megaman’s lamps have made a significant difference, the light output is so much better than our original energy saving light sources. The lamps are also very, discreet and sit within the actual fittings so they are not on show which gives an overall improved effect".
