Electricfix trade counters are on the way
Electricfix recently told EPA about its latest move to open a network of trade only counters throughout the UK. These counters will provide the same low fixed prices and availability already offered by the Electricfix next day delivery service, but with the ‘same day’ convenience of a local merchant.
The new counters will be located next to Screwfix branches and will only be open to specialist trades. Electricians will have access to the range of Electricfix goods at exclusive prices, which are lower than those offered by Screwfix. The trade-only counters will be open six days a week. There are with 80 scheduled for launch by the end of May 2010, and more to come later in the year.
John Mewett, marketing director for Electricfix, said: "Electricians have been very enthusiastic about Electricfix and talking to our customers it was clear they were looking for more. Our catalogue and free next day delivery service has been a big hit, but they also want the convenience of being able to buy their goods the same day at an outlet that’s dedicated to meeting their needs. Our new trade only counters will provide exactly that."
The trade only counters will be manned by staff used to working with the trade and able to provide customers with advice on stock ranges, individual products and the latest ‘XTRA deals’ in store.
A new ‘Express Collection’ service, will allow electricians to order and pay for goods using the Electricfix telephone service, and then collect them from the counter 15 minutes later. Free next day delivery to home or site is also available for any order placed in store before 6pm, in many areas.
To make use of the service, contractors will need to demonstrate their trade credentials to use the trade only counters. This can be done by demonstrating membership of, or registration with an electrical trade body or professional association such as the ECA, NICEIC or SELECT; certification through a Part P scheme; qualification under the Electrotechnical Certification Scheme; or other evidence of qualification as an electrician.
