Improved control functions for alarms
Aico has launched two control switches for its RadioLINK Fire and Carbon Monoxide (CO) alarms.
With best practice supporting larger alarm systems comprising three, four or more smoke and heat alarms interconnected, occasionally also with CO alarms, improved control functions are vital to ensure the system is simple for residents to use.
Aico's new Alarm Control Switches come in two variants - one for use with smoke and heat alarms and one for combined smoke, heat and CO alarm systems. Both control switches have additional features to allow the residents extra control of their alarms. The 'Locate' feature allows the exact alarm that has not triggered the system to be identified when all are sounding, the 'Test' feature can be used to test the entire systems without having to reach up to the alarms and the 'Silence' feature will control any false alarms.
The combined smoke, heat and CO alarm control switch has two indicator lights that flash to immediately identify if the alarm has been caused by fire or CO, allowing residents to take the correct course of action, i.e. ventilate the property and call a registered engineer if it is a CO leak or leave the property immediately if it is a fire and call Emergency Services.
Both alarm control switches are powered by a built-in ten year Lithium battery and communicate with the alarms using radio-frequency signals so there is no wiring whatsoever. This allows the switches to be installed with minimum expense and disruption.
