Safe cleating
Ellis Patents has produced a high voltage Centaur cable saddle and Phoenix fire rated cleat.
Richard Shaw, managing director of Ellis Patents, said, “When it comes to safety and cable protection and preservation, the role of the cable cleat is of paramount importance. Our aim in recent years has been to educate the market as to how vital it is that cleats are correctly.”
The Centaur cable saddle is a heavy duty cleat that was developed with the specific intention of providing fault protection for HV cables up to 400kV, with a diameter range of 100mm to 160mm. It has reportedly been used extensively in underground cable tunnels since its launch in 2009.
The Phoenix fire rated cleat was the first range specifically designed for use with fire protected (FP) cables. It is manufactured in 316L stainless steel and is proven to be fireproof and corrosion resistant, meaning it ensures FP cables will remain secure and continue working in the event of a fire.
