Smashing project

Fragment retention lamps manufacturer GlassGuard has recently completed a re-lamping project at Thetford Town FC.

The project included the installation of GlassGuard BlackBand fragment retention lamps in the home and visiting team dressing rooms for a vastly improved safety profile where broken glass could risk player injury.

The referee’s room, physiotherapy room and the kitchen have also received upgraded GlassGuard BlackBand lamps. In addition, halogen spotlights were installed in the clubhouse bar providing improved lighting as well as a 30% energy saving.

“Safety is absolutely key in a changing room environment,” says GlassGuard Marketing Manager Stewart Damonsing. “Lamps risk breakage at times of maintenance or if struck by accident, for instance by a stray ball. A broken lamp can spread glass particles over a wide area, posing a real danger to those using the facilities. Glass containment with our GlassGuard BlackBand lamps is absolutely vital for improved health and safety for players, staff and officials.”

Club Secretary Bob Richards adds: “On behalf of Thetford Town Football Club we would like to thank GlassGuard for installing the new lights. We have noticed a marked difference in the brightness of the lamps which has also raised positive comments from visiting teams.”
