PSA Peugeot Citroën and GE announce joint scheme to boost electric mobility
PSA Peugeot Citroën and General Electric have signed an agreement to help develop more effective business models for electric mobility (EV). The scheme will cover areas including fixed battery vehicles (FBEV) and plug-in vehicles (PHEV).
The European Co-operation agreement is aimed at developing a new EV mobility offer enabling B2B customers to overcome current EV constraints such as mileage, charging time and vehicle size.
Both companies intend to create an EV Customer Experience Centre in France that will promote the implementation of projects to demonstrate the economic, commercial and technological challenges involved. GE Energy Industrial Solutions will supply and deploy the infrastructure products needed to make the projects possible, in particular charging stations and installer network. Both groups will collaborate towards deploying a joint commercial offer for PSA Peugeot Citroën customers that would include an EV and the relative charging infrastructure.
To underline its commitment to the EV sector, GE is also looking to buy from PSA Peugeot Citroën up to 1,000 electric vehicles by the end of 2015 for use throughout Europe. Mr. Ferdinando Beccalli-Falco, President of GE Europe and North Asia stated: "GE is delighted to combine its commercial and technological expertise in infrastructure and energy with the knowledge and market position of PSA in EVs. In order to propose efficient solutions to our customers, GE and PSA need to consider not only the car, but the larger scale solutions which, with our combined strengths, we can provide."
