Maximising customer benefits of Government smart meter programme
The benefits and costs of the Government’s planned roll-out of smart meters has been a key topic of discussion recently and RWE npower has re-affirmed its commitment to smart metering and to working with the Department of Energy and Climate Change to deliver a responsible and well managed roll-out programme.
According to the company, smart meters can offer benefits to consumers and the UK as a whole.
It states that smart meters are a key component in delivering a 21st century energy infrastructure for the UK that will increase security of supply, enable a low carbon and sustainable future, and allow accurate, communicable data that gives consumers the ability to manage their energy use more efficiently and undertake changes to reduce their consumption.
Paul Massara, RWE npower, Chief Commercial Officer (pictured), said: “Smart meters mark a significant and important investment for the UK, and at npower, we are committed to working with the DECC programme to drive down costs and ensure that customers receive the full benefits. Smarter meters will mean the end to estimated bills and mean smarter energy products that better serve everyone.”
