Klik.system - New Plug and Play Lighting Control from Hager

Hager has launched a simple to install and programme 7 pole, plug and play lighting control system that can be used for both digital and standard lighting installations.

Klik.system is a prefabricated wiring solution that includes; lighting marshalling boxes with between 4 and 12 outlets, a conduit box/surface connector for single luminaire connection, prewired pluggable occupancy sensors and prewired plugs with 3 or 5 metre leads.

The same plug and socket interface is used for connecting all luminaires whether switchstart, digital and/or emergency lighting.  This interchangeability makes it easy to upgrade a standard lighting installation to a fully dimmable option at a later date by simply unplugging the existing fittings and sensors and plugging in the new ones.

For digital lighting control, contractors can use klik.system as a stand-alone solution or as part of a more complex building management system.  There are KNX compatible occupancy sensors available for example.

A range of plug in occupancy sensors provides control.   The sensors are available for relay and digital control and combine occupancy detection with a photocell to switch or dim lighting in response to both movement and natural light levels.  They can be programmed using a hand held infra-red programming tool or a potentiometer and the digital sensors can be used for either DSI or DALI protocols.

While the lighting control is automatic, the system can be overidden manually by either wall switches or a hand held remote control.  Absence detection is also possible, this is where the lights need to switched on but will automatically dim up or down and switch off when presence is no longer detected.  This maximises potential energy savings.
Says Steve Yorke, product manager for klik.system:  “Using prefabricated wiring for lighting control is a simple way of supplying an energy efficient installation.  Klik.system achieves this by using either marshalling boxes or the conduit connection box for a traditional fixed wire installation.”

Klik.system lighting control is the first phase development of a complete prefabricated solution for an electrical installation.  The complete solution consists of prefabricated wiring sections, which when connected together provide a complete pluggable solution from the sub distribution board to the luminaire.

Klik.system complies with the new standard BS 8488 for prefabricated wiring systems intended for permanent connection in fixed installations.
