£65,000 refund win says utilities'meters CAN be wrong!
A heating products manufacturer, suspicious of its high energy costs and reviewing a move to a voltage optimisation system, installed a Marshall Tufflex Sinergy e-Tracker sub metering unit for an in depth view of its energy usage. The results demonstrated their meters were delivering incorrect readings, which led to the handsome refund.
The device is a portable kWh meter that monitors incoming power and specific circuits and equipment to show the pattern of demand by hour, day, week or month. The unit is magnetic and easily attaches to switch boards. Its non invasive transducer clamps do not require power to be turned off for installation, which takes place between the Mains supply cable and the Main Distribution Board and takes about 30 minutes.
Tracking current from 10 to 2500 Amps, the unit runs on battery or mains and features include CT amps range indicator, electrostatic phase indicator, pulse input and optional voltage connections.
