Miniature relay with benefits for lighting applications

Designed specifically for using in the lighting industry, Hongfa’s HF115FS miniature high power relay is available from specialist distributor Switchtec. The lighting industry is constantly looking for smaller, more compact products with greater switching capabilities to meet the needs of OEMs as they too chase smaller package sizes and more environmentally friendly products.

Incredibly, the diminutive HF115FS is capable of switching an incandescent lamp load of up to 3000W at 230VAC. Specifically chosen for this arduous application, its contacts are made from W+AgSnO2 (Tungsten + Silver Tin Oxide) and are rated at 16A 250VAC.

Also very important to the design of the relay is its small size. In a world where ‘small is beautiful’, Hongfa has been able to pack a truly high powered relay with high switching capabilities into a package measuring just 15.7 x 12.7 x 29mm.

For versatility, the HF115FS is available with 5,6,9,12,18,24,48,60 and 110VDC 400mW operating coils. To meet the needs of OEMs and end users all around the globe, the HF115FS is approved by cULus, VDE and CQC approval laboratories. A version of the HF115FS is available in accordance with IEC 60335-1, and is suitable for use in household equipment.

The HF115FS has a maximum switching power of 4000VA, and specifies a creepage and clearance distance of 10mm. Contact resistance is 100m Ohms (at 1A, 6VDC). The relay has a 5kV dielectric strength between coil and contacts, and it has mechanical endurance figure of 5 x 106 ops.
