Scheme is tailor-made for electrotechnical sector
SELECT, the trade body for the electrotechnical industry in Scotland, has reinforced its commitment to drive up industry standards by pioneering a bespoke insurance scheme designed to provide significant new benefits for its members.
The new scheme, delivered in conjunction with the Electrical Contractors’ Insurance Scheme, is specifically tailored to meet the needs of individuals and companies and is already providing better cover and creating quantifiable savings.
ECIS insurance covers a range of products, including professional indemnity insurance, public liability, employers’ liability and van insurance.
For the first time, it also offers single van insurance, an important consideration for many members who operate as sole traders and do not qualify for fleet discounts and other economies of scale.
Martin Reid, Member Services Manager at SELECT (pictured), said: “Our members are already reporting substantial savings by using the scheme, which is also available through the SELECT website. What makes the ECIS scheme different from standardised insurance industry offerings is that it has been designed with the specific needs of the trade in mind and will be operated by people who understand the unique nature of a highly skilled and technically challenging sector.
“This means that when an electrician phones to report that, for instance, a specialist tool has been lost or stolen, the people on the other end of the phone will understand exactly the nature of that tool, its importance to the job in hand and the urgency of getting a replacement. Our members are already aware of the many benefits that accrue to them as a result of being part of a proactive, campaigning trade body. This new benefit is another significant addition to an already attractive portfolio of services.”
