Square D Domae and Qwikline Range
Square D, a brand of Schneider Electric, is enhancing its Domae and Qwikline range of consumer units to offer installers and wholesalers greater options when choosing high quality products that meet 17th Edition regulations.
In the Domae range, the company has introduced a compact, dual Residual Current Device (RCD) unit, which is ideal for small dwellings and refurbishment projects. It features two RCD protected busbars each containing four Miniature Circuit Breakers (MCBs), which means the installer can split the circuits to improve continuity of supply. If a circuit trips then only half of the circuits in the house would be affected. For example the upstairs sockets and lights could be on one busbar and the downstairs equivalent could be on the other.
The extension to the Domae range also includes a choice of three larger consumer units, offering a solution for small commercial spaces and large dwellings that are packed full of additional electric circuits commonly found in a modern home. Installers can choose a 20 way unit, which has one incoming switch and up to 20 Residual Current Breaker with Overload protection (RCBO), allowing for each circuit to be individually protected. The high integrity model features two RCBOs to protect the most important circuits and two busbars fed by Residual Current Circuit Breaker (RCCBs) each allowing up to seven MCBs. The new dual RCD split load unit features eight MCBs on each busbar fed by an RCCB.
In addition, the company has extended the choice of metal to its existing products, as well as offering the choice of metal and insulated units on its new ranges.
Installers favouring the premium Qwikline range of plug in units can now choose from two new models available in metal. The dual RCD split load unit features six RCBOs on each busbar and the high integrity model offers two RCBOs, with two RCCBs each protecting five MCBs.
Qwikline is suitable for residential and light commercial applications such as small retail outlets, showrooms and offices. The plug-on breaker concept and fully encapsulated busbars mean outgoing devices can be quickly and easily connected, guaranteeing the correct mechanical connection every time.
